Getting involved

At St Helen’s we do not have a formal membership so we thought it would be helpful for you to know what it means for people to be thoroughly involved in the ministry here at St Helen’s. Our desire is for every person and every family at St Helen’s to be established in a personal relationship with Jesus through regular prayer and bible study. At the same time, we encourage everyone in St Helen’s to be a partner in the work of the gospel with others in the church family as we seek to reach, build and send.

Partners in prayer

We recognise that God is in control and we are completely dependent on him, so prayer is a vital part of everything we do. As well as meeting monthly for our prayer suppers, praying in our small groups and at our main meetings we hope everyone at St Helen’s will be behind the gospel work here by praying to our Father for him to prosper and protect the ministry done in his name. Joining a small group

The small groups remain at the core of our personal growth and service together. It has always been our conviction that God works in us by his Spirit through his word, and we seek to encourage one another – both old timers and new arrivals; all of us – to be involved in a midweek small group as a key part of belonging at St Helen’s. That way we can all be growing and maturing in our relationship with Jesus, ‘not neglecting to meet together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another and all the more as we see the Day approaching.’ For information on which small group to join click here.

Serving one another

Everyone at St Helen’s can make an important contribution to the life of this church and beyond as we serve one another. Many are involved in leading small groups or Sunday school. There are numerous opportunities to serve in practical ways from stewarding at our main Sunday meetings to operating the PA system to helping to cater or wash up for one of our church family Sunday lunches. Giving

In a large church like St Helen's, there's a temptation to feel that your contribution doesn't make much difference.  However, financing the ministry is dependent on the giving of the church family and friends, and we encourage every member of the St Helen's family to consider making some contribution to support the ministry.
