FAQs…

As a newcomer to London is it good to shop around for the right church?

Yes! Finding a church where you can grow as God’s word is taught and where you can serve is vital. But the danger is spending all your time shopping and missing out on growing and serving.

Won’t I be more useful joining a smaller church?

As a large church with a wide range of ministries we need lots of people to serve in lots of different ways. So why not come and serve? Many people have found that in doing so they’ve been equipped for a lifetime of service in the wider church.

Do I really need to join a small group as well as come on Sundays?

Church involves God’s people meeting together to hear God’s word. That happens on Sundays, but a small group is where you’ll get to know, love and serve other Christians and grapple with God’s word yourself.

Why should I start with Mark’s gospel?

We’ve found that, even for people who have studied this gospel before, Mark’s desire to bring us face to face with Jesus is a great way to start at St Helen’s. And if we say we think we know this book we almost certainly don’t!

Everything seems to start in October but my job doesn’t begin in London until January. What should I do?

We often have a number of people who join St Helen’s in January as well as at other times throughout the year. It is easy to join groups when you arrive and sometimes we will start groups for people who have arrived at the same time so you can meet other people who are new to London or St Helen’s.
