Isaiah 42:18-44:5

The blind servant

Chapter 42 hints to the Lord's magnificent servant. But who is this servant who will bring justice to the nations? Is it Israel? In a devastating exposure, the Lord shows that even Israel are among the blind and deaf who need the servant’s rescue. They are not to look to themselves but only to the Lord for the salvation that he alone can bring.
