At the centre of God’s plan for the world is the brutal death of a despised, rejected man. But he is God’s servant Jesus comes to carry our guilt and punishment. Isaiah places the crucifixion at the very heart of God’s dealings with the world and wants to persuade us to trust it entirely and proclaim it to the ends of the earth. (Note: the book Charlie refers to is 'The Cross of Christ' by John Stott).
