At the centre of the Christian faith is a summons to God’s future world. This future is known as God’s ‘rest’. But God’s rest isn’t simply a place. It is the place where the Lord Jesus is, in person. And we’re not there yet! So the author to the Hebrews issues the strongest possible warning to his readers to take care, fear and strive to ensure that we do not fail to enter this glorious future. What will prevent us entering his rest? The hardening of our hearts. What will keep our hearts from hardening? Listening!
