Hebrews 8:1-13

The better covenant

This chapter stands as the centrepiece of the whole letter to the Hebrews. Those who have come to Christ have a high priest who is the Son of God. Jesus is a far better priest than any sinful, mortal man. Unlike the earthly temple and priesthoods, he exercises a heavenly and eternal ministry. He has inaugurated a new covenant. One that draws his people into a far better relationship with God than ever possible before. Because of him, our sins have been removed, our hearts have been transformed and we can know God personally.
