Persecution

Although we live in a culture where it is relatively safe to be a Christian, we still face persecution for following Jesus. Many of us who attend St Helen's, are from cultures where it is unsafe to speak openly about the Lord Jesus. In the face of persecution, how do we not fear and remain faithful witnesses?
In the letter to the church of Smyrna, Jesus wants Christians to know that no matter what happens to us, even if our persecution results in death, he is the divine victor over death, who knows the present and future reality (and true reality!) of our persecution and will reward all those who remain as faithful witnesses, with life.
